Bit of a dilemma…

May 29, 2008 | G.E.Designs | No Comments

I have this wonderful fabric that is just screaming please use me and a quilt in mind for it…. BUT I also have 2 quilts in the TBQ pile and I have several WIP’s that need my attention. So here is my dilemma…I am torn with what to do! LOL! How many of us swear to finish up our lists before starting something new but really miss the thrill and excitement of a new project only to find our WIP’s just get bigger and bigger…EEK! So while I contemplate which to do I will share the pics of the fabric and the quilt I would like to be doing with it!

Happy dilemma solving!LOL!

Blog-hopping!

May 27, 2008 | Home Sweet Home | No Comments

Today I started my morning pretty much the same as any day… the wee one wakes me up way to early and we get up and start breakfast. Then when the kiddies are sitting with their breakfast I get tea and toast and go spend some time on the computer. Today I decided to catch up on my blog-hopping! I have discovered many new blogs ( new to me anyway) today and one in particular, Home Sweet Home, is having a great give away!! One is a known gift of the cutest pins for our pin cushions and the other is a mystery prize! How exciting! Needless to say I also visited the Pinks and Needles blog and her Etsy store where Jo found these adorable handmade’s! So head on over to both sites and check them out!

I also decided to join my first swap! All Stitched Up was having a pincushion swap (it is full now and underway) and since I have discovered a love of pincushions, I joined in! So exciting as our swaps are international and secret!!! I cannot wait to see the finished products!

On that note I wanted to say….Happy blog-hopping!

At last some finishes!

May 26, 2008 | MODA | No Comments

Well, I have finished the first quilt(s) in the new Nook! All of my finishes this week are commissioned projects from The Quilt Nook. The first is a memory quilt for a graduation gift. The recipient was in awe of her mom for

getting this for her- I called it “Shabby Chic Memories”. She said it matched her bedroom perfectly! I would have to say it was hard to give this one to them! I may have to make a quilt in this fabric line, Simplicity by Moda, for myself.
Here are some close-ups:

The next finishes were for going away presents. They are on their way to the customer as we speak and she will be presenting them on Wednesday I believe…I will find out then how their recipients liked them! : )

Otherwise I managed to clean up and reorganize (it gets crazy in my room when I am working LOL!) the Nook and it is ready today for me to get back at it. I took the class on my machine a couple of weeks ago and now I guess I need to schedule the embroidery class too so I actually am using my 440 with actual knowledge instead of winging it…I tell you though it was a dream working on that memory quilt with a good, scratch that, GREAT machine! Thanks Bernina! I have been trying to use it on my own but Vista is giving me grief!!! I think tomorrow I will call and schedule the class!

Well, since the Nook is cleaned up and ready for more creativeness, I think today will be a day to work on personal projects and see if I can whittle down my WIP’s and TBQ’s lists on the side. Hoping to get them completed before my Cinderberry Stitches patterns arrive (hopefully tomorrow: ) – more on those later!)
Happy Memorial day and God Bless our troops (and my Marine!)

Back to work!

May 20, 2008 | yo yo's | No Comments

This week has been completely crazy! We returned from an impromptu visit to Disney world and I was able to finish putting the ‘Nook’ back together and got started on my commissioned projects. I am now scanning the photos for the one project and then I will applique them in place and can quilt it. I will show a sneak peak as soon as I download the photo. Then I need to put together the pillows for the other order and I am finished for May! I tell you, it feels great to be back in my space and working on quilts.
I have also been working on some yo yo’s for my jar. I am using a few in my current projects and I hope they add a little je nais se quoi. My parents are here visiting and it has been a nice break!
I hope to work on my WIP list sometime later this week and of course I need to go to my LQS for some backing fabric for the memory quilt. That means I can check out what was brought back from market! : ) yippee!
Well the pics have finished and I need to go print them and then applique them so….

A wonderful surprise!

May 9, 2008 | presents, The Quilt Buddy | No Comments

Well, to my big surprise, on Wednesday I happened to notice that there was a parcel sitting on my front porch. I was not sure what it was as I was not expecting anything to come so imagine how excited I was to open the door and realize my Quilt Buddy had sent me some goodies! When I opened it I was greeted with this wonderful note and then proceeded to make the discovery of some neat goodies!!

The first I opened was a very cool, tres chic pincushion that she made- and boy does she know me!!! It was made out of some of my very favorite fabrics! Then there was a lovely box of tea that is just delicious! Then I found a great little tin filled with fabric for my stash, a cute plant stake and a little frog hugger for my flower pots-too cute! Last but not least a ME journal that is just screaming to have some nice things written in it.
It was a wonderful little surprise!
Thanks Stefanie! : )
Hope your day has some wonderful surprises in it too!

Still not very much Quilt time…

May 7, 2008 | yo yo's | No Comments

Well, still not as productive as I would have liked to have been this week…but…we did finish putting the room together ( with a small helper) and into working condition, so back to the quilting!!! Yippee!

I also managed to get the next block for Noah’s Ark BOM printed off and prepped ready to start stitching. Then since I was going insane not doing any quilting I pulled out my yo yo makers I bought a month or so ago and jumped on that bandwagon. I decided to fill one of my decorative jars with them and use the bags (upon bags) of scraps I have to make them…so here is my jar so far.

I have seen several different ways people are displaying their yo yo’s. Check here, here and here is a great tutorial for the makers. So I feel in good company! I would like to get some more sizes and some of the heart and flower makers too and then I will have a supply of cute embellishments on hand that will look great and use up scraps that would otherwise never be put to use! They are way addictive though and I foresee many yo yo’s being produced. Especially since my daughter wants to play with them. I even manged to put them on a pony holder for her and it has become her favorite accessory!

Otherwise, the doors came in for the new cutting station and all I need now is to work out lighting, get a better chair and put up some floating shelves! My Quilt Nook is now my happy place! I can’t wait to see what creations come to fruition in my spiffed up room!

I finally found a spot to display my wonderful vintage find-> a green work baby quilt! Stefanie and I found it at Rooster Creek in Temecula when I was visiting. So I thought you might like to see it! I am thinking I need one more set of hangers to prevent the corners from stressing.
When I get the doors finished I will take more pics!
Until later, happy yo yo making!
